BIGTIME SPEED!
Speed camp is a loosely used term describing what BigTime refers to as athletic development. The camps that BigTime Athletic Development conducts are designed to not just work on speed but every aspect of athletic development. BigTime development consists of flexibility, form running, speed work, quickness drills, agility drills, resistance drills, overspeed drills, lateral speed, and last but not least conditioning. Most camps are more of a conditioning camp that are called speed camps.
You have to go full speed or the training doesn’t work! Programs that over emphasize conditioning don’t really work on speed and explosion they cloak there program with overtraining and call it speed work. Speed work is done in small increments with heavy emphasis on creating the most explosive athlete possible. Speed training is just one part of the over all athletic development of an athlete, but every other part of the development of an athlete improves an athlete’s speed. Total athletic development involves the following:
- Flexibility
- Form Running
- Stride, and turn over rate
- Strength
- Core strength
- Balance
- Agility
- Explosion
- Sports Skills
- Reaction time
- Competitiveness
Almost all of these areas are addressed in every program that we design. What we don’t accomplish in the camp we address in the weight room. The best results and the best athletes do both, they compete in our speed camps and do our explosive oriented strength training-this is complete athletic development.
Most of our speed camps are run during the summer and are outdoors to take advantage of the space, but are not limited to this. We do team and individual speed training everyday after school during the school year. If you show up consistently you will get results if you show up consistently and work hard you get great results!
